Chinese holiday “Tomb Sweeping Day” will be on April 5. Tomb Sweeping Day (also called Qingming Festival) is a major event where Chinese go to their ancestors graves to burn incense and offerings to comfort them in the afterlife.
At tomb sweeping itself, relatives sweep the grave stone area, remove weeds, add soil and, traditionally, burn “spirit money” or “ghost money”, a paper Mercedes and other luxury items. However, technology and traditions and pollution takes its toll. This year we see everything from paper iPhones to international property being burned as gifts.
